Corrections policy

Updated

Veratify gets things wrong sometimes. When we do, we say so and fix it.

How to tell us

If you think a check is wrong — the verdict, a fact in the explanation, or a source — email corrections@veratify.ai with the link to the check and, if you can, a source that shows the problem.

What happens next

  1. The editorial board re-examines the check against current sources.
  2. If the check was wrong, we correct it in place. The correction is recorded on the check itself: the date, what changed, and the earlier verdict if the verdict changed. The record is never removed, so the check always shows its own history.
  3. If the check was right, it stands as published.

Claims that change over time

Some claims are true one month and false the next — a price, a statistic, a policy still being decided. A check describes the evidence as of the date it was checked, which is shown on every check.
